Meet Sachi, Bently and Nibs!

Ohhhh, Sachi is a pupper in your neighbourhood…

Sachi is a sweetheart. A big girl with such a sweet disposition, I went for a walk with Sachi and her mom Brenda last weekend and Sachi was so excited to see me, Brenda just let go of the leash and Sachi came running across the way to greet me. Sitting at my feet and turning her head up to look into my eyes, she almost seemed to be saying “I missed you so much!” It always makes me feel good when dogs I know are happy to see me, it makes me figure I’m doing something right.

Nibs wasn’t so sure of the camera

I had the chance to photograph Sachi with her brother and sister Nibs and Bentley back in October. I’ve known their mama Brenda for a few years from around the neighbourhood and was pleased to get a call from Brenda expressing an interested in capturing her lovable fur balls.

Bentley, on the other hand, was quite the model…

With safe social distancing and masks on, I was able to come to Brenda’s house to photograph the animals. As is often the case with shooting in a person’s home, Brenda was a bit concerned that there was a lack of space in the house and a lot of clutter which could make shooting difficult. But I was able to get a coloured background in for Bentley, and then make use of a chair and blanket for Nibs. And then there was Sachi.

I could tell that Sachi was a bit nervous about the light I’d brought with me, dogs don’t always like the noises they make and the umbrella is a bit weird looking, so I thought it might be best to shoot with her outside. While Brenda was a bit concerned about the state of the yard due to the season, using the fence-line as a plain background and then a decent Depth of Field for the trees, not only did we get some really cute images of her (especially with her ears up as she was listening to the sounds of the neighbourhood) but she visibly relaxed, not having to worry about the big scary flashing thing in the living room.

Sweet girl, listening to the neighbour kids playing in the park.

“[Andrea is] accommodating, thorough and patient, (because I know cats are very difficult), but did awesome work. I’ve had many people comment on what a great job [she] did with the photos.” - Brenda B. - 2020 Client
